BTTS Meaning: Both Teams to Score Betting Explained, with League Stats

October 12, 2026 BTTS Meaning: Both Teams to Score Betting Explained, with League Stats

BTTS stands for Both Teams To Score: a bet on whether each team scores at least one goal. It is offered as Yes or No, and some sites write it as GG (goal–goal) and NG (no goal). This guide explains how BTTS bets are settled, reads a real BTTS price, and shows how often both teams scored in Europe’s top five leagues.

What does BTTS mean in betting?

Under 22bet’s rules:

  • Both teams to score – Yes wins if each team scores at least one goal.
  • Both teams to score – No wins if at least one team fails to score. A 0-0 draw is a No.
  • Regulation time only: 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs do not count unless the market says so.

The result and the number of goals do not matter: 1-1, 3-2 and 1-4 are all Yes; 0-0, 2-0 and 5-0 are all No.

Reading a BTTS price

22bet’s prices for Brentford v Liverpool (Premier League, 17 October 2026):

Market Selections Odds

Total goals 2.5 Over / Under 1.51 / 2.35
1X2 Brentford / Draw / Liverpool 2.515 / 3.6 / 2.645

A 100,000 VND stake on Yes at 1.44:

1-1 Wins, returns 144,000 VND Loses
2-0 or 0-2 Loses Wins, returns 262,200 VND
0-0 Loses Wins, returns 262,200 VND

Odds of 1.44 imply a probability of 1 ÷ 1.44 = 69.4%, and 2.622 implies 38.1%. The two add up to 107.6%; the 7.6% above 100% is the bookmaker’s margin. With the margin removed, the market rates the chance of both teams scoring in this match at about 64.5%. How to convert odds to probability is covered in Asian odds explained and the house edge page.
