Crash Games Explained: How They Work, RTP and the Titles You Will Meet

September 29, 2026 Crash Games Explained: How They Work, RTP and the Titles You Will Meet

Crash games give you one thing to watch: a multiplier that starts at 1.00x and keeps climbing until it “crashes” at a random moment. You have to cash out before that happens. Aviator is the best-known title, but the category also includes Spaceman, JetX, casinos’ own in-house crash games and dozens of variants. This guide explains how they all work, what each one’s RTP is, and where to find them.

What is a crash game?

Every round is a stake and a rising multiplier. Cash out at any point and you receive your stake times the multiplier at that moment; if the round crashes before you cash out, that stake is lost. Example: bet $10 and cash out at 3.20x and you receive $32; if the round crashes at 2.80x before you cash out, you lose the $10.

There are no reels, paylines or cards — only the multiplier curve, so the rules take a minute to learn. Many crash games are multiplayer: everyone in the room watches the same curve and sees each other’s bets and cash-outs.

How does a round work?

The four steps of a crash game round: bet, multiplier climbs, cash out, crash

  1. Place your bet in the few seconds before the round starts. Depending on the game, you can place more than one bet at a time.
  2. The multiplier climbs from 1.00x, usually shown as something taking off — a plane, an astronaut, a rocket.
  3. Cash out by hand whenever you like, or set an auto cash-out level in advance (for example 2.00x) and let the game do it for you.
  4. Crash: the round ends at a random multiplier. Bets already cashed out are paid at their cash-out multiplier; the rest lose.

How is the crash point decided?

Each round’s crash point comes from a random number generator. Many crash games use a provably fair system: results are generated from hash chains, and after each round you can re-run the calculation yourself to check it. BC.GAME’s own Crash is one example — the casino publishes its pre-generated hash chain and the verification algorithm.

One round has no effect on the next. A run of early crashes does not make the next round “due” to fly high.

Crash games you will meet

Different crash game themes: plane, astronaut, jet and a plain chart

Game Developer RTP / house edge What sets it apart
Aviator Spribe 97% RTP Two bets per round, in-game chat, Rain feature
Spaceman Pragmatic Play 95% RTP Auto cash-out, plus an option to auto cash out 50% of the stake at a separate level
Crash BC.GAME (BC Originals) 1% house edge Provably fair, with a Fast Crash version as well

JetX by SmartSoft launched in 2018 and was one of the first flying-themed crash games; the current version allows up to four bets at once. Beyond these, large casino lobbies carry dozens of crash games on every theme — football, cricket, chickens, balloons — from studios such as Galaxsys, JILI, iMoon and Astriona. The mechanic is the same; what changes is the RTP, the number of bets per round and the auto cash-out options, so check each game’s rules (the “i” or “?” button).

RTP and when you cash out

RTP differs by game: 97% for Aviator, 95% for Spaceman, and BC.GAME publishes a 1% house edge for its Crash. These are theoretical returns over a very large volume of bets, not what a single session will produce.

Cashing out early or late does not change the RTP. A low cash-out point pays out more often but less each time; a high one pays out less often but more each time. Your cash-out point only changes how much a session swings, and no betting system changes the house edge.

Where to play crash games

  • 22bet: the slots lobby has Aviator, Spaceman, JetX and JetX 3, plus dozens of other crash games — type “crash” into the lobby search to see the list.
  • BC.GAME: Aviator plus its own crash games in the BC Originals range (Crash and Fast Crash), all provably fair.
  • 20Bet: Aviator is in the casino lobby, on the same account as the sportsbook.

Another mini game built on the same idea of cashing out before you lose the stake is Mines, where every multiplier can be worked out exactly.

Playing crash games responsibly

Watching a multiplier climb in real time makes it tempting to “wait a little longer” and cash out later than you planned, and because a round lasts seconds, the number of rounds in a session adds up fast. Setting an auto cash-out in advance helps you stick to your plan. Set a budget and a time limit before each session, only play with money you can afford to lose, and treat crash games as entertainment with a cost, not a source of income.

Crash games FAQ

What is a crash game?

A crash game is one where a multiplier climbs from 1.00x until it crashes at a random moment. Cash out before then and you receive your stake times the multiplier; if you have not cashed out, the stake is lost.

What is the RTP of crash games?

It depends on the game: Spribe’s Aviator is 97%, Pragmatic Play’s Spaceman is 95%, and BC.GAME publishes a 1% house edge for its own Crash. These are theoretical figures over a very large volume of bets.

Does cashing out early change the RTP?

No. Your cash-out point only changes how much a session swings: an early cash-out pays out more often but less each time. No cash-out pattern or betting system changes the house edge.

What is the difference between crash games and Aviator?

Crash game is the name of the category; Aviator is one game in it, made by Spribe. Spaceman, JetX and BC.GAME’s Crash use the same mechanic with different RTPs and features. See how Aviator works.

Which casinos have crash games?

22bet has Aviator, Spaceman, JetX and dozens of other crash games; BC.GAME has Aviator plus its own crash games in the BC Originals range; 20Bet has Aviator.
